TheCentersfor Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, has a number ofinformatics-basedcommunity health education tools that help the organization to passand share health education information. CDC has a functional RSS Feedthat enables the organization to syndicate data automatically. Thisallows CDC to share videos, blogs, news articles and videos, all withhealth education that benefits people in relation to diseaseprevention and control.
Inaddition, CDC has functional and regularly used YouTube Channel thatprovides videos and allows users to view them by giving importantinformation and education. The organization also has e-cards which ituses to send to people, thereby providing educational materialcontent. They are effective because they can be sent to many peopleat once.
However,what makes CDC effective in using informatics-based health educationtools are the two broadcasting services the organization uses. Thefirst is the functional podcasts that contain audio broadcastingfiles that contain educational content on health. The podcastsprovide audio broadcasts for all categories that help the user tolearn from experts and gain knowledge on public health (CDC, 2014).Secondly, CDC has a functional online TV channel, the CDC TV Channel.The CDC TV provides videos that impart knowledge and education ondiverse health topics.
CDChas social media platforms that are illustrated on the website forsharing information. The social medial platforms include twitterhandle and LinkedIn and Facebook page links. Through these socialmedia platforms, CDC is able to share crucial information of peopleto read and pass. In the current world, the use of social mediaplatforms is an important strategy to have for organizations,especially those who target the modern audience. CDC is such anorganization that targets the modern population to pass healtheducation information that is crucial if shared in the public domain.
Theguideline selected is the emergency nursing resource providesguidance for nurses when preparing wounds (Guideline, 2012). Theguideline is developed from ENA, the emergency Nursing Resourcescommittee and uses sixteen references (Guideline, 2012). Theguideline covers the scope of acute lacerations and is categorizedinto management level, even though its intended users are physicians,Nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses. The recommendations of theguideline are divided into three levels, the highest level Arecommendations, the Moderate level B recommendations and the Weaklevel C recommendations. In addition, the guideline provides itemsthat are not recommended for the practice.
Theserecommendations are similar to what is provided in academic books andhealth publications. They have the similar guidelines in relation tothe different levels of practice that can implement each of theitems. Both the recommendations from the website and from the booksgive the level of users that the guidelines are prepared for. Inaddition, they provide health standards that need to be observed bythe nurse. However, the guidelines from the Guidelines (2014) aremore detailed compared to those of the academic sources.
Nursinginformatics allow health care workers, especially nurses to learnmodern patient care skills and knowledge on how to handle patients. Through education, nurses and health care workers learn themethodologies of handling patients of all kinds and also understandthe dynamics that relate to taking care of patients. For instance, anurse will learn modern ways of connecting with patients and sharinghealth information, as well as linking doctors to patients. Theimportance of nursing informatics is providing the platforms fornurses and health workers to learn and share information with otherprofessionals. In addition, nursing informatics allows health workersto share critical information in relation to emerging health andsafety topics.
Healthcaretechnology helps in the maintaining of records of patients, such aspatient history and medical details. This helps health workers toaddress the health issues of patients in an informed manner.Consequently, the quality of patient care provided in hospitals andclinical settings improves. This is because accurate informationabout a patient is provided to nurses or health workers who attend tosuch patients. In addition, the health care technology allows healthpractitioners to share necessary patient details and history so as toenhance the diagnosis of diseases and the administration of diseases.This allows health workers to use additional information that is notprovided by patients, to investigate their current situation.
Nursinginformatics and health care technology provides health workers topromote the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Throughtechnologically advanced equipment, health workers are able toaccurately diagnose and correctly interpret the results from thetests of the diagnosis. This ensures that they use accurateinformation from the patient’s tests make conclusions and offertreatment solutions. Through such technology, testing, diagnosis andtreatment of patients is advanced and increases the safety standardsof the patient as well as the health workers (IHI,2014).For instance, through nursing informatics, topics such as safehandling of blood and blood products is taught to health careworkers, which promotes the safety of all those involved in thetreatment of patients.
