The world of modern technological innovations have greatly influencedthe quality of life that every individual possessed. Each one of ushas become severely attached to these technologies such that wemerely depend our lives with them.Yet, we cannot afford to beinfluenced by these modern inventions and we are greatly bounded bythe benefits that they offer to every individuals in differentlocations.

One concrete example of modern technological innovation is the use ofInternet. At present, Internet has been a very effective tool forcommunication, research, business transactions, online networking, etc. It has provided each of us the means to be involved in differentevents that may suite our own lifestyles. For now, our focus is onthe impact of different social networking sites, such as Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, as well as different podcast, videos, and blogs, that played a significant role on private safety and security ofevery individual who uses various social networking sites (Roberts,2008).

Private online security and safety has been acommon issue now that everyone can easily access the Internet. Manypeople have frequently established faked photos, malicious posts, misused public profiles, etc. That can influence other people`sprivate accounts. Facebook is one example that is vulnerable toonline threats and dangerous posts, pictures, and videos made by arandom individual. According to Wallbridge (2009), By placingpersonal information on the world wide web, users make themselves vulnerable to online predators, selling of their information tothird parties and in some instances, websites owning everything anindividual places on their profile page or friend’s page, including photos.

Many of these incidents are actually targetingthe teenagers as their victims, who have not much concerned onprivacy and security of their Facebook account. The following videos, podcasts, and blogs presented below are examples whichprovide information that addresses the topic ofonline private safety and security, specifically on Facebook.

Accordingto Safe Smart Social (2013), there are a variety of ways on how teensget a trouble using the Facebook sites. Common faults being done byteenagers include indicating their middle names, schools attended, email, birthday, etc. on their profile, which are already considereda private information on the user and are not really necessary tomention still on their profile. With regards to its bias, thenarrator is more focused on how teens commonly misused the Facebookapplication as possible threat against strangers, which is usuallymore of one-sided. Though the topic specifically illustrates thetrouble that most teens have endured by using Facebook, most of thetopics that were presented in the video showswhat parentsand educators mustdo whythey need to talk to kids about social media. The validity and applicability of information being discussed mayreally be an effective means to teach these kids a lesson on privacyand security, and these may be of great help on ignoring the threatsbrought about by using these social networking sites using Internet.Furthermore, the main thought that these kids need guidance fromtheir parents shall be applied to everyone, whether each one havedifferent cultural perspectives, religious practices, or conflictingthoughts that may affect their perception of these moderntechnologies in their everyday lives.

Similar thoughts and ideasregarding Facebook privacy has been established in the blog createdby Poh in 2013. In his statement, for over 600 million active usersof Facebook, the notion of &quotInformation Gap&quot for eachindividual has already become negligible. Almost each one of us hasat least a Facebook account where anyone can post status, uploadphotos, and share ideas and perceptions about what`s in our minds. However, by creating a Facebook account also means that you arepublicizing your own life to everyone, wherein you are open tocommunicate, interact, and respond to other people, even to thoserandom people who also have Facebook account. Other possible dangerbrought by publicizing your life is that we may run intocybertalkers.

Cyberstalkingdoesn’t only implicates on your online life sometimes it can very welltranslate to the offline world. For example, the fact that some Facebook users liketo‘checkin’ to places they go (your friends can check in you as well) orpost theirroutinerunning routes via some mobile phone applications, they can easily be thetarget ofstalkers.Such information, when accumulated and analyzed, is exceptionallyuseful forthemto stalk their victims in real-life. It might happen to allof us, but it does happen to some unfortunate people.(Poh, 2013)

By analyzing the blog created byPoh (2013), it was more of equal bias and treatment whichdistinguishes what is said to be the advantage and disadvantagebrought about by the use of Facebook application. The blog contains adual purpose, one is to inform the readers the benefits and thepositive impacts brought by the use of Facebook, while the other oneis to pose a warning to various Facebook users regarding what itmeans to `publicize` your life. Hence, the validity of using Facebookas well as being responsible with your actions within its boundaryshall be applicable to every Facebook user, whether you are rich orpoor, a child or an adult, a celebrity or an ordinary person, etc.Every individual has equal rights and opportunities to live a lifeand that any form of indifference shall be ignored, given that wewere all human individuals.

Another podcast that caters thetopic regarding Facebook safety and privacy is the one established byThe New York Times in 2010. It was then mentioned that the newfeatures of the Facebook application have become more complicated anddifficult to understand, and that making the user`s personal profileinto a public default seemed to be not appropriate for its userprivacy and safety. According to The New York Times (2010),

&quotFacebookis giving people more ways to share information and that many peoplehave misunderstood its innovations.&quotMoreover, reports also said that there is a double in increase in thenumber of users of various social networking sites for Americanhouseholds. From this notion, one can expect an increase in the trendof various threats imposed in various social networking sites, suchas Facebook. By analyzing the podcast presented, it can be deduced toform a bias to an increase in number of Facebook users, therebyconcluding that a possible increase in the threats and dangers canalso be expected, without any form of analysis, research, or any formof experimentation. Moreover, the main thought in the article doesnot apply to every individual, since there are many other reasonsbesides the increase in the number of Facebook users. It can be forbusiness, communication, or other related works which require the useof Internet.

Insearching for references coming from Internet sources, one must bereliable and accurate enough to hold pertinent information.Information, the raw material of knowledge, is power. Hence,to have a reliable information is a form of power and strength over aspecific knowledge. Second, thetest of reasonableness involves examining the information forfairness, objectivity, moderateness, and consistencyof information such that all the gathered information shall answerthe questions fairly and consistent.Lastly, the area of support isconcerned with the source and corroboration of the information. Muchinformation, especially statistics and claims of fact, comes fromother sources. Citing sources strengthens the credibility of theinformation.
