DearSir,

Re:LETTER OF INTRODUCTION

Iam writing this as an introductory letter. I am a third year studentin the university majoring in economics. I hail from Nebraska but hashad to move to the local city as a result of my university studies. In the university, I have become particularly interested in thedebating club, as well as economics club and other school groups thatpertain to my course. For the last couple of years, hitch-hiking andcamping have become some of my most treasured hobbies, although Ialso enjoy nature walks in cases where I am alone. So far, I am yetto start working but have been accepted as an intern in a localenterprise.

Mydesire to learn economics has stemmed from the acknowledgement of thefact that every aspect of the society revolves around thedistribution of scarce resources in the society. Indeed, everythingcomes in a more or less limited supply in which case individualswould have to make trade-offs. In essence, I chose to do economics inan effort to comprehend the dynamics that are involved in makingdecisions pertaining to what should be sacrificed for the other, notonly in a micro-environment but also in the macro environment.

This, however, may be different in the case of my current course IAH, whichprimarily revolves around Arts and humanities. At the end, I hope toacquire knowledge pertaining to the culture and history of othersocieties with focus on the fundamental issues and ideas on humanexperience in them. This would allow for the appreciation of theroles that values and knowledge plays in shaping and thecomprehension of human behavior. On the same note, I am hoping to bemore familiar with the varied ways of knowing in the humanities andarts, as well as become more knowledgeable and able in a wide rangeof expressive and intellectual capabilities. Further, I am alsohoping to get the capacity to engage critically with my own culture, history and society, both in the present and the future.

Asmuch as IAH has quite a lot about Latin America, my experience withLatin American studies is quite limited. Nevertheless, I haveundertaken courses that deal with a critical examination of theculture, history and politics, as well as experiences pertaining toLatin Americans, both in Latin America and other parts of the worldincluding the United States.

Nevertheless,I have had the opportunity to travel to varied parts of the UnitedStates including California, New Mexico, New York, Washington DC, andeven Harlem. Nevertheless, the same cannot be said of Latin America, although I visited the Caribbean Islands albeit for a short time.

Unfortunately,I am yet to learn Spanish. Nevertheless, I have some knowledge ofbasic Portuguese words that may be used in greetings and replies forthe same.

Asconcerning online courses, I am lucky to have taken ISS IAH as anonline class. This may have been one of the most exciting courses asI had the opportunity to ask questions without feeling embarrassedabout my limited comprehension of the issue. Further, it was possibleto do the course from the comfort of my home and at my convenience.Nevertheless, it required a lot of discipline so as to pass the examsor at least comprehend the varied concepts presented.

Iam looking forward to having an exciting time in this course.

Sincerely,
